The article describes a case where ocular signs betrayed a major systemic health problem. This 50-year-old male presented complaining of a significant deterioration in vision over the last six months and had been prescribed prism in this time. He was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and had undergone bilateral photocoagulation. The fundus photos clearly show extensive bilateral disc oedema with cotton-wool spots and flame haemorrhages indicative of malignant hypertension. |
