Information about several papers discussed at the Jazz in the Global Imagination which was held at Columbia University in New York City is presented. The conference was organized by the writer Howard Mandel and was attended by some two dozen writers, researchers and radio hosts from around the world. Eugene Marlow, jazz composer and scholar at Baruch College, discussed Shanghai's music scene from his forthcoming book on jazz in China. Writer Alain Derbez gave a flowing account of jazz in Mexico. |
