The article aims to outline a number of possible approaches to Gustav Temple and Vic Darkwood's text that treats Chappism as a literally-cultural phenomenon, counter-cultural information and a satirical protest movement. It provides a close reading of "The Chap Manifesto. Revolutionary Etiquette for the Modern Gentleman," published by Temple and Darkwood with detailed consideration to its distinctive forms, themes and motifs. Moreover, a conclusion assessing the press reaction to "The Chap," magazine's controversial Children in Tweed campaign is also provided. |
