| Abstrakt: | Chapter 4 of the book "Orphan of Asia" is presented. It explores the story of an intellectual Taiwanese youth named Hu Taiming, who, though he left a life based on local Taiwanese customs, nonetheless retained a deep-rooted admiration for his ancestors' motherland, China. This obsession, however, brought him disillusionment and the realization that he does not belong anywhere. Taiming's story is set during the time of the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, from 1845 to 1945. |
