The article discusses the risk of cardiovascular death associated with fine particulate pollution caused largely by automobile traffic and diesel-fueled vehicles. The "New England Journal of Medicine" and "Circulation Research" both describe recent studies on the danger. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has worked on limiting fine particulates since 1997. It is recommended not to exercise in or near heavy traffic to avoid the risk of heart attacks. |
