Advocates the use of biochemical tests to diagnose ischemic stroke. Clinical trial testing a panel of biochemical markers that include neuron-specific enolase (NSE) and myelin basic protein (MBP) in blood samples of acute ischemic stroke patients; Results of elevated levels of NSE in patients; Conclusion that confirms that brain proteins are released into the blood following a stroke. |
