Abstrakt: The article reports on results from the randomized controlled trial pertaining to the Treatment of Resistant Depression In Adolescents (TORDIA). The trial's objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of four treatment strategies in adolescents who continued to suffer from depression despite a two-month treatment with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). A clinical sample of 334 patients aged 12 to 18 years with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder not responding to an SSRI was used. It was found that adolescents responded better to the combination of cognitive behavioral therapy plus a different SSRI. The interventions, measures used including the clinical global impressions-improvement score and results are discussed.
