This article offers an overview of the market status of the U.S. petroleum chemical industry in 2007. According to Business Monitor International Ltd. (BMI), the industry has been experiencing a downturn. BMI attributed the downturn the low level of investment and high oil and gas prices. In addition, BMI predicts that the U.S. will end up as a large net importer of many ethylene and propylene derivatives before 2010. |
