Abstrakt: The article discusses the other option used to silt fence in rough, rocky terrain in Sinks Canyon State Park, Wyoming. In 2003, the Wyoming Department of Transportation was faced with the problem maintaining roads along a clean section of the Popo Agie River while at the same time protecting water quality in the river. Due to the rough terrain and large boulder fields, it was difficult to prevent concentrated water flows, sediment and rock from being deposited into the river. The old silt fence could not be properly installed due to topography and large rock and boulders. The solution used was a geotextile berm that would conform to the surface and would prevent undercutting by concentrated water flows.
