Abstrakt: |
The article reports political conditions in Portugal. National politics and the implications of the Treaty of the European Union for Portugal dominated the campaign period in May and June 1994. The citizens protested against the plan of the government to increase the transit fare prices on the Tejo bridge. The election to the European Parliament which was seen as a test for the general elections due in 1995 was the main event in 1994. Prime Minister Cavaco Silva III on July 29, 2004 announced that he and his party would oppose the regionalization of the country. |
