Abstrakt: The article focuses on study designed to develop a pharmacologic agent that will inhibit neutrophil adhesion to the endothelium, thus preventing myocardial ischemia or reperfusion injury in rabbits. The study used the P-selectin ligand sialyl Lewisx (sLex). It found that sLex decreased myocardial infarct size. It concluded that sLex might be effective in reducing myocardial injury associated with ischemia or reperfusion.
