The article reports on the possibility that food bearing labels showing water consumption in its production might be available in supermarkets in 2008. According to Waterwise director Jacob Tompkins, at least two large supermarket chains were conducting research on accurate ways of calculating the amount of water used to produce items. He recommended the use of a traffic-light system that depicts one, two or three water droplets on a label to give shoppers an idea of water-efficient methods used in products. |
