The article reports on a patient with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) who was positive for HLA-B*2709. The patient's personal medical history and family history were negative for rash, uveitis, inflammatory bowel disease, infections and axial and peripheral arthritis. Her physical examination revealed tenderness of the sacroiliac (SI) joints, with a reduction of lumbar flexion to 3 cm and of lumbar side flexion to 8 cm. The study concluded that the presence of B*1403 supports the hypothesis of a neutral role of B*2709. |
