Abstrakt: The article provides information on a study which compared the efficacy and tolerability of imatinib monotherapy with age-adapted multiagent chemotherapy as induction treatment for elderly patients diagnosed with Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ALL). The study also examined the tolerability and outcome of subsequent uniform consolidation therapy. Patients in the study received imatinib concurrently with successive cycles of consolidation chemotherapy, irrespective of their initial randomization.
