Abstrakt: This article discusses the passing of the Freedom of Information legislations (Informationsfreiheitsgesetz) in Germany. The author writes that there have been many instances where the law has helped uncover many documents and sources that have previously been keep secret by administrative bureaus. The author notes that the fear of a flood of requests has not materialized, there has been a sixty percent success rate in getting the requests fulfilled, and the many of those requesting information are private citizens.
