Abstrakt: The article focuses on the Altman's Z-score model as an assessment and performance management tool. The model, which was also known as Altman Bankruptcy Predictor, was introduced by New York University Finance Professor Edward I. Altman in 1968. A detailed account of the model along with other strategies is explained in the book "Measuring Organizational Performance - Metrics for Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management Research," by Robert B. Carton and Charles W. Hofer. According to the author, Altman used a statistical technique called discriminate analysis in producing a financial distress prediction model. He added that strategists have not discovered the potential of the management tool despite of being accepted as a financial distress model for almost four decades.
