This article presents a study which investigates the influence of the body mass index on the severity, frequency, and patterns of treatment of probable migraine, migraine, and severe episodic tension-type headache. A validated questionnaire was mailed to 120,000 household and the participants were divided into five categories based on body mass index which includes the underweight, normal weight, obese, overweight, and morbidly obese. Analyses were adjusted by covariates that included demographic variables, use of preventive medication, duration of illness, comorbidities, and use of opioids. |
