The article investigates the grafting of maleic anhydride (MAH) onto polypropylene (PP) in microcolloid systems by coirradiation. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) of the prepared PP and MAH in xylene showed that the particle size of the microcolloid system ranges from 4 to 6 μm. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy was employed to characterize the molecular structures of grafted MAH while wide-angle X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry were used to determine the degree of crystallinity and crystalline structure. Results showed that coirradiation caused an increase in the amount of grafted MAH. Moreover, the grafted MAH has higher purity and higher graft degree when compared to those produced from conventional irradiation technique. |
