Abstrakt: The Nuclear Physics Institute at Orsay (IPN) is a joint research unit of the CNRS/IN2P3 and the University Paris Sud-XI. The laboratory is composed of 86 permanent researchers (21 of them are employed by the University), 244 engineers and technicians, and about 65 Ph.D. students, post-docs, and visitors. The Institute forms students through research and actively contributes to the emergence and development of multidisciplinary activities for which the laboratory has competences. It carries out R&D activities in accelerators and detectors. The different activities in physics and the associated technical developments are performed within departments and groups dedicated to instrumentation. The Research department is composed of 8 groups of 10 to 20 physicists either from CNRS or University depending on the subject. Engineers, technicians, and administration staff give logistic support to the physics groups. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
