Abstrakt: The article focuses on a 1799 literary work titled "Die Gemählde: Gespräch" (On Paintings: Conversation), which described Renaissance paintings in the Dresden Gallery. It presents the major arguments of the work, which dismissed gender bias in the study and appreciation of art and recognized the importance of male and female interpretation of beauty in a work of art. The article also analyses the work's verbal interpretation of three Mary Magdalene paintings.
