Abstrakt: The article explores the history of textiles in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. The San Francisco Bay Area is considered as an influential geographic area significant to the advent of contemporary textile arts. The historical and geographical elements of the area influence the popularity of arts and crafts. The opening of the Golden Gate Exposition in 1939 marked the textile sector in Bay Area. It allowed Bay Area weaving to be publicly recognized. Fiber artists that influenced the textile sector in the city includes Dorothy Liebes, Elisabeth Moses and Trude Guermonprez.
