Abstrakt: The article features weaver Adela Akers. According to the article, her fiber art has been characterized by its formal discipline, by its solidity both in conception and execution, and by its bond to tradition. She has integrated horsehair into her surfaces, intending to add internal structural strength to her pieces. Some of her works were inspired by stone carvings she saw on a visit to Spain. By means of astute deployment of her materials, she obtains her effect. She was a professor of fiber art at Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.
