Abstrakt: The article examines whether the variants of the PPP1R3A gene detected in Caucasians interact with obesity in the pathogenesis of diabetes in an Italian population. It was found that the Tyr905 variant of PPP1R3A is associated with higher insulin sensitivity and reduced risk of diabetes without obesity. Obesity and a rare PPP1R3A genetic variant may interact in the pathogenesis of severe insulin resistance.
