The article focuses on the aspects of insulin resistance pertaining to dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease cited during the World Congress on the insulin resistance syndrome (IRS). Ronald Krauss of California provided insights in the genetics of the more common forms of IRS and the relationship between diet and dyslipidemia. Jose Ordovas of Massachusetts discussed human genotypes affecting lipid metabolism and the associations between lipid metabolism and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. |
