A SOYBEAN EDUCATION CURRICULUM FOR PRESCHOOLERS: INTRODUCING NEW FOODS TO CHILDREN.

Abstrakt: The article discusses the research on the effectiveness of soybean education curriculum for preschoolers in Laboratory School of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. The purpose of the study was to identify factors that influenced food choices, to examine the effects of introducing soybeans and to investigate acceptance of soy product foods. The soy snacks and comparable non soy snacks were served to 65 preschool children, half of them participated in soy bean activities. It was found out that children who participated in educational activities found most soy-based and non-soy snacks equally acceptable. According to data from pretests and posttests completed by parents, purchases of soy food products and soy intake by children at home did not change.
