Abstrakt: The article discusses the transition in values and forms of American families which reflect their ethical capacity in the U.S. A structure of today's family may show diverse lifestyles such as single-parent families, single-gender parents, biracial children, childless couples and nonelderly grandparents. The values and beliefs held by families are now changing with a striking shift in population demographics such as mobilization, advances in biotechnological and medical science and knowledge expansion, artificial brain power and new communication modes. With this, the author searches the capacity of families to maintain intergenerational balance in the midst of societal change such as life expectancy and the economic consequences of labor force participation.
