The article discusses a study which compared the attainment of A1C glycosylated hemoglobin, blood pressure (BP) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL)-C goals and mortality in three groups of type 2 diabetics who have different durations of thiazolidinedione (TZD) use. Mortality rates among the three groups were explained. It states that glycemic, BP and LDL-C were comparable with and without long-term TZD treatment but long term TZD utilization was linked to reduced mortality. |
