Abstrakt: The article talks about the porcelain ceramics of American ceramist Curtis Benzle. It is stated that Benzle is part of the rich tradition in ceramic artists in Ohio. To tame the melting of his materials during firing, Benzle uses a refractory firing sagger as a mould. According to the article, while his older vessels are not meant for practical use, Benzle embraces the idea that art can be functional and beautiful at the same time.
