The article presents information on the national standards for diabetes self-management education (DSME). It stresses the importance of the DSME to people with diabetes and its necessity in order to improve patient outcomes. The standards are said to be designed to define quality diabetes self-management education and to assist diabetes educators to provide evidence-based education. It cites the objectives and the overriding principles that would be used for the revision of the said standards. |
