Significant and increasing depressive symptoms are associated with increased risk of new cardiac events in people with a heart attack in the previous year.

Abstrakt: The article presents information on a research that analyzes the risk of new cardiac events in people with a recent cardiac arrest. The subjects of the study were 528 patients who were clinically diagnosed with myocardial infarction. The study revealed that people suffering from depressive symptoms in the year after a heart attack were at higher risk of new cardiac events compared with people without depressive symptoms.
