Chapter 2 of the book "The Flash of Capital: Film and Geopolitics in Japan" is presented. It discusses the form and histories of Japanese film. According to the author, the history of film and the history of the modern nation share approximately the same span of time, both emerging in the 1890s. He also says this is the reason why almost every history of Japanese film has used the history of the nation to chart its course. |
