Abstrakt: | The article discusses the case of a 56-year-old woman admitted to a hospital with a diagnosis of severe endogenous depression. The community psychiatric nurse was concerned at the poor intake of food and fluid of the patient. The intensity of her delusion made it impossible for the medical personnel to obtain informed consent. The hospital dietitian started the patient on enteral feeding after which she gained weight. She was discharged when her physical and mental condition improved. The community nurse was advised on the removal of her feeding tube when the patient has achieved her target weight. |
