The article discusses conflicts in the end-of-life (EOL) care legislation in Brazil. EOL-related issues are still a taboo in the country and have been neglected until advances in technologies and treatments in intensive care medicine had occurred, which caused increased and heightened debates throughout the country. For example, due predominantly to legal concerns, information of EOL practices in Brazilian intensive care units is scarce, thereby, making the implementation more difficult. |
