Abstrakt: The article presents the arguments in the conceptualization of reactive or psychogenic psychoses. Its beginnings and early evidences are discussed including the influence of the writings of Jaspers and August Wimmer's monograph reinforcement. The use of the terms schizoaffective psychoses and cycloid psychoses also added obstacles to the recognition of reactive psychoses as a legitimate term in psychiatrical diseases. The availability of adequate research and the differences from the latter psychoses with regard to prognosis strengthen the idea of reactive psychoses.
