Abstrakt: Semiconductor nanocrystals are nanoscale light sources that received much attention in recent years. We will give an overview about semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals as active optical materials in photonic structures and hybrid colloidal-epitaxial devices, for realizations of cavity quantum electrodynamics (cavity QED) concepts, or for probing field intensities in coupled resonator optical waveguides.
