The article discusses a study on the body fat distribution pattern in prepubertal Chinese children and the link between central fat distribution and specific biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. It states that truncal or central body fat distribution, a characteristic of adult males that appears during puberty, is recognized as a cardiovascular risk factor in both adults and children. It was found that trunk fat was link with higher levels of insulin and triglyceride in both boys and girls. |
