Abstrakt: The article presents the discriminant function analysis of the psychiatric diagnosis of anorexia nervosa. After a search of the relevant literature, it was decided to include 24 clinical variables relating to 23 anorexic and 104 control patients and a linear discriminant function in 4 variables to distinguish between the two groups, with a resulting misclassification rate of 1.6%. These variables included the amenorrhoea, pulse rate, lanugo and denial of illness. These were used in a check sample of seventeen anorexics and 31 controls and the discriminant score confirmed the clinical diagnosis in each case.
