Abstrakt: The article discusses the study that determines factors related to non-adherence among neurotic out-patients receiving pharmacotherapy to the protocol. It is conducted by the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Pennsylvania, the Henry Phipps Psychiatric Clinic at the Johns Hopkins University, and the Neuropsychiatric Clinic at the Philadelphia General Hospital. The data are organized into four categories to conceptualize the findings, which include the degree of psychopathology, prior experiences with psychotropic medication, social class, and doctor attitude toward patient. The results of the comparison between patients who adhered to prescribed procedures and those who did not comply with the instructions are presented.
