Abstrakt: The article presents a study which discusses the result of forearm blood flow estimations using mercury-in-rubber resistance strain gauge in patients suffering from phobic anxiety states. Estimation of forearm blood flow using mercury-in-rubber strain gauge plethysmograph was carried out on two groups of female subjects. Ten normal female subjects and ten female patients with severe phobic anxiety states were included in the study. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between normal and neurotic group in respect of resting flow, peak flow during stress and after stress scores. The study pointed out that blood flow was not raised during a state of transient hysterical dissociation.
