The article presents a study on the outlook of depressive people towards the significance of life events. It examines various factors like the severity of the depression, degree of recovery, and the significant experiences of the patients. The results of the Social Readjustment Rating Questionnaire used in the study reveals that life events were viewed by neurotic depressed in-patients as uniformly more stressful than non-depressed subjects. It likewise concludes that several patients have experienced significant events excluding death of spouse, divorce, and jail term. Meanwhile, it notes that the responses of depressed patients reflect a more inherent characteristic, but require more investigations. |
