Abstrakt: The article investigates the production rates of aldosterone in manic-depressive psychotics in the U.S. The investigation is aimed at identifying the involvement of aldosterone in the reduction of residual sodium and exchangeable sodium in patients. It uses 2 subjects, one of which was used in a previously published study on similar discipline. The subjects' urine were examined for aldosterone and radio-activity was measured in a Packard liquid scintillation spectrometer. The results of the study indicates that aldosterone production rates were higher during mania than during depression. A discussion on the results of the study is offered.
