Abstrakt: | The article compares the aversion relief (AR) and systematic desensitization (SD) behavior therapies in terms of rate and degree of improvement, specificity versus the generality, and prognostic indicators. There were 20 phobic patients, who were divided equally into two matched groups according to their age, sex and type of phobia-agoraphobia versus specific phobia. These subjects were treated with either AR or SD, which improvements were measured by a combination of psychiatrists' ratings and neurotic symptoms. Based on the results, the researchers concluded that AR treatment broadens the applicability of behavior therapy of the phobias. |
