Abstrakt: The article presents the authors' response to a reaction about their study on the validity paraprofessionals selection procedures in mental health services in the U.S. The study was partly intended to assess the need for elaborate and carefully designed group interview selection procedures. There were comparable findings from the self-concept and venue of the pretraining assessments, but these findings are less relevant than the self-selection hypothesis. According to the authors, in spite of the pretraining results, it still could be argued that the extended group interview was a more potent predictor of future performance than self-selection.
