The article presents a mathematical analysis of the effects of evolutionary and ecological factors on the genetic structure and size of a Mendelian population. It states that the unexploited Mendelian population balances its vital resources according to its genetic capability. The growth rate in the exploited population is affected less by limited vital resources. It is concluded that the optimal harvesting can change natural selection conditions and also the direction of genetic evolution. |
