The article reports on the programs launched by British charity organization Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) as part of a project offering a long-term solution to Ethiopia's desperate shortage of eye care professionals and facilities. With the help and guidance of Rachel North, professor of optometry at the University of Cardiff and VAO voluntary overseas training manager, and other volunteers, a four-part refraction program was developed and 11 nurses from across central and southern Ethiopia were selected. |
