Abstrakt: Radiation necrosis of the brain is acknowledged as a long-term side effect of radiation therapy to the head and neck. It is also known that the effects of exposure do not depend solely on the total dose but the fractionization and timing of the doses and that this total dose may actually be lower than what is currently considered clinically acceptable. We report a case of radiation necrosis in a 45-year-old Caucasian male with no history of radiation therapy. However, the patient does work in the quality control department of a nuclear plant. To the best of our knowledge, low levels of radiation exposure have not been previously reported to cause radiation necrosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
