Presents a study reporting the observation that a diploid strain of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae can survive without the central receptor Tom22, although it is strongly reduced in growth and the import of mitochondrial proteins. Requirement of the Tom22, for the higher-level organization of the mitochondrial preprotein translocase of the outer membrane (TOM) machinery. |
