The article looks at the active sportswear industry in the U.S. Consumers are buying the new, innovative designs and performance fabrics, and sports fans are acquiring all kinds of licensed team merchandise, including apparel. According to The NPD Group's Consumer Tracking Service, unit sales of men's active apparel at retail were up 9.5 percent for the 12 months from October 2005 through the end of October 2006 over the same year-ago period, while men's apparel unit sales for active and sport use rose 10.3 percent. |
