Abstrakt: The article examines account books of both men and women to determine their consumption in England during the eighteenth century. The author assesses three single-entry gentry accounts to know the distribution of consumer responsibility between women and men. The Cottons couple spend on textile for Anne and tailor for John. The Grimes, on the other hand, spend more on linen drapers and shirts.
