Abstrakt: The article examines the relationship between ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR) and the long-term risk for heart failure (HF). It shows that there is a graded independent association between the severity of ischemic MR and the development of HF after myocardial infarction. The article reports that even mild ischemic MR is associated with an increase in the risk of HF.
